Project Overview
Theme: Designing for Social Good
Problem
- College students move around A LOT, so their material needs are always changing
- When moving out, many students resort to unsustainable practices (ex., throwing away good furniture)
- Students are often living on a budget and need affordable options
- Online second-hand sellers can be unreliable
Problem Statement
How can we design a solution that allows students to safely buy and sell their home goods, promoting a sense of sustainability among the university community?
User Survey
1 in 2
users prioritize trust & reliability
2 in 3
users are concerned about item condition
User Interviews
“What happens if the cabinet doesn’t fit in my car?”
“Knowing how far they are from me so we can meet up on campus or nearby makes me feel comfortable.”
Persona
“LOTS of pictures from different angles would make me trust the item’s condition.”
“There's a lot of fake accounts, and it's very easy for them to [scam], and then just delete the account and just make a new one.”
